Due to the diversity of viewpoints and the variety of themes and types that exist, blogs are a source of valuable information on Internet.   Like other webpages, blogs are indexed by search engines such as Google, the leading search tool.

Every day more blogs emerge in such way that generic or traditional search engines don’t meet the needs of discovering new interesting blogs or find the content we are looking for.  It’s for this reason that search engines specialized on blogs are essential.

There are blog directories and search engines which can help you find the exact blog you’re looking for.  Search engines are often the main source of traffic, so the ranking assigned to a website or blog marks its success or failure.

In terms of blog searching, some of the best known search engines for blogs are:

Google BlogSearch
It’s a Google tool.  It specializes in finding Blog content type. Google BlogSearch provides fresh and relevant search results from millions of feed-enabled blogs. Users can search for blogs or blog posts, and can narrow their search by dates and more.

BlogPulse
A blog search engine that also analyzes and reports on daily activity in the blogosphere.  BlogPulse uses tools such as Trend Search, Featured Trends and Conversation Tracker and discovers trends in the highly dynamic world of blogs.

Technorati
Technorati offers all the blog content indexed and sorted.  It has the same functions as Google’s BlogSearch, but also has other features.  Technorati looks at tags that authors have placed on their websites. These tags help categorize search results.
